What is the difference between SpotPass and StreetPass?
StreetPass and SpotPass for the Nintendo 3DS may have similar names, but both perform their own distinct functions. Let's take a look:
What is StreetPass?StreetPass is function that allows your Nintendo 3DS to communicate with other 3DS owners while you're out and about, and on the move. When StreetPass is switched on, your Nintendo 3DS will seek out and exchange date with other 3DS systems, providing you with new content for you to play with.

What is SpotPass?SpotPass is the name given to the way your Nintendo 3DS can detet wireless hotspots and download various types of data automatically. Most likely, this will be while your 3DS is sitting in Sleep Mode (perhaps while you are asleep too), and you'll wake up to spot that a little something for you has been downloaded in the meantime.
