What is Spot Pass for Nintendo 3DS? How does SpotPass work?
SpotPass is the name given to the way your Nintendo 3DS can detect wireless hotspots and download various types of data automatically (whether at home or at designated hotspots). Most likely, this will be while your 3DS is sitting in Sleep Mode (perhaps while you are asleep too), and you'll wake up to spot that a little something for you has been downloaded in the meantime.
What content will be downloaded via SpotPass?
SpotPass content could take the form of many things - something as simple as a new notification for a System Update, to something as cool as bonus items for a game you have been playing recently. For example, players of beat-em-up Dead or Alive: Dimensions will receive up to 30 free costumes via SpotPass.
Kind of obvious, but you need to make sure that your 3DS is switched on and wireless is enabled in order to receive SpotPass content.
