What are Play Coins on the Nintendo 3DS?
Play Coins are a virtual currency on the Nintendo 3DS. You can earn Play Coins to spend on bonuses and unlockable items in Nintendo 3DS games.
How do I earn Play Coins?
When in Sleep Mode, the 3DS acts as a pedometer. For every 100 steps you take while carrying the 3DS, you will earn one Play Coin. The number of Play Coins you have earnt will display next to the icon of a coin at the top of the Home Menu.
What is the maximum amount of Play Coins I can earn?
Up to 10 Play Coins (1000 steps) can be collected in one day. In total, you can carry up to a maximum of 300 Play Coins.
Note: A maximum of seven days' worth of steps and play-time data can be recorded while Nintendo DS or Nintendo DSi games titles are left running in the 3DS. That play-time data won't be saved to the system until the DS or DSi software is exited.
